Burnout and the Modern Entrepreneurial Man

Welcome to Converge Coaching International! I'm Anthony.

Are you a man struggling to balance your personal life and your business? Do you often feel unmotivated, tired, and overwhelmed to the point of shutting down?

According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Report 2020, stress and burnout are common among entrepreneurs. In their survey of entrepreneurs from 49 countries, they found that approximately 50% of entrepreneurs reported experiencing high levels of stress, which can contribute to burnout.

A Harvard Business Review (HBR) study conducted on entrepreneurs revealed that 25% of entrepreneurs reported experiencing burnout. The study further highlighted that entrepreneurs who work longer hours and are more emotionally invested in their work are at a higher risk of burnout.

If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone. I have experienced 'burnout' several times in my business and personal life. My first encounter began in my early 20s at the start of my corporate career at a Fortune 200 company in Los Angeles, CA, where I sacrificed my health for work performance. While I won sales and service awards, I was 30 pounds overweight, over $25,000 in credit card debt, and exhausted on every level.

The most severe incident occurred when my mother suffered a stroke. At that time, I was working as a craft cocktail bartender while simultaneously building a new business—an alcohol marketing & events company in Atlanta, Georgia. When my mother fell ill, our family quickly unraveled. At the age of 33, it fell upon me to manage the care and well-being of my parents, including their healthcare and finances—all while working a service job, trying to build a business, and finding moments of rest in between. I was burned out for months but kept going. To cope, I abused drugs and alcohol and sought distractions in short-lived, detached relationships with women. Eventually, I reached my breaking point, and it's not often that you wake up in a jail cell with no recollection of how you got there. But there I was, at the lowest point in my life.

Whether it's in the United States, Asia, or Central & South America, the stories I hear from my clients are similar. Balancing our business and personal lives can be a lonely, painful process for men. Accepting and investing in ourselves can seem meaningless and inconsequential. However, my clients will tell you that you don't have to do it alone. With the right support, there is a way through to the other side.

Facing these challenges with someone who is trained, experienced, and a fellow entrepreneur working with men globally can have a significant impact on your business and provide invaluable support. I work with entrepreneurial men who are ready to take the next step and become the men they aspire to be. They're done with burning out, tired of feeling stuck, lost, and uncertain. They know they can't stay where they are but aren't sure how to move forward. Using my unique process, I help my clients assess, recover, and rebuild themselves from burnout so their business and personal lives thrive together. For the entrepreneurial man, these two aspects are so tightly intertwined that they are almost indistinguishable.

My approach combines my experience in creating and selling businesses with over 20 years of spiritual and personal development training. It is designed to optimize your mindset, physiology, and environment, transforming you into what I call The Conscious Leader—a man capable of managing and scaling his life and business in a healthy, harmonious, and profitable way.
